This selection of heavily embossed borders is available from our ample stock of original rare papers actually manufactured in Germany between 1890 and 1915. Authenticated by the Smithsonian Institute, samples of these patterns are now a part of their permanent collection. The original earthtone colors have survived intact and were applied with the "air brush" technique by European artists. Borders of this type were popular throughout the 19th century and are suitable for restorations as well as enhancing walls of newer homes.
These borders, used either with complimentary wallpapers or as decorative highlights on painted walls, were generally placed below the ceiling cornice and picture molding near the top of the wall and as panel borders on wall surfaces or dadoes in wainscot.
